Test de connaissance du français
TCF is France Éducation international’s French proficiency test family. The version and required components depend on whether the purpose is study, Canada, Québec or a French administrative procedure.

Learners and applicants whose receiving institution or authority accepts a specified TCF version. A general reference to French proficiency is not enough to choose the correct product.
Requirements, availability and accepted versions are set by the provider and receiving institution. Confirm the latest information directly before booking.
TCF tout public, TCF Canada, TCF Québec and the version for French integration, residence and nationality address different uses. Do not select one only because its date is convenient. Start with the authority’s wording and determine which skills and version it requires. If you have more than one application, create a separate requirement record for each. A result meeting one process should not be presumed to satisfy every other process.
Use France Éducation international’s official candidate resources to understand the selected version and its components. Practise the response method as well as French: reading an instruction correctly, organising a written answer and managing an oral task can require focused work. Ask your approved centre about current administration and identity instructions. Keep preparation progress separate from the official attestation you eventually need to submit.
Consider an applicant who has seen both TCF tout public and TCF Canada advertised nearby. The closest date should not decide the product. Start with the receiving organisation’s published requirement, then match the version and components. Keep the original requirement beside the centre’s confirmation so that a shorter email or translated note does not remove an important condition. Preparation should follow the confirmed version rather than the most readily available course.

Complete registration through the appropriate provider, with guidance on the details that matter.
Choose French-language evidence through the receiving organisation’s requirement, then confirm the version, skills and approved centre. TEF and TCF families contain purpose-specific products.
Explore this pathwayCheck the identity policy for this exact exam and testing country. Your account details should follow the provider’s instructions for the document you will present. If names differ across Latin and Cyrillic documents, resolve the spelling question through official support before booking. Keep passwords and one-time codes private; guidance should help you understand the form while you retain control of sensitive details.
Read the guideThe receiving institution determines which product and format it accepts. The provider determines current locations, appointment availability and delivery requirements. Confirm both before choosing a centre or online option. Check the local time, equipment and any access-arrangement process relevant to your booking. A location listed online does not guarantee a place on your preferred date.
Read the guideStart with the official candidate materials for the exact version you intend to take. Familiarise yourself with the published format and interface, then choose learning support separately if needed. Registration assistance is not tuition, a predicted score or access to live questions. Use legitimate resources and follow the provider’s exam-conduct rules.
Read the guideUse the provider’s official account and reporting guidance to access your result. Check separately how the receiving institution wants to receive it. Downloading a report is not always the same as completing submission. If you are considering a further attempt or a professional certification step, confirm current rules directly. An exam result does not itself guarantee admission or a credential.
