Who is this exam for?

Candidates who need to document French proficiency for an organisation that explicitly accepts the relevant TEF version. TEF Canada and other purpose-specific versions should not be assumed interchangeable.

Requirements, availability and accepted versions are set by the provider and receiving institution. Confirm the latest information directly before booking.

Choose by purpose, then by centre

A French-language test is useful only if it meets the receiving authority’s current requirement. Write down whether you need evidence for study, citizenship, residence or another process, and compare that requirement with the official TEF version descriptions. Ask the authority about an unclear version before paying. After the version is settled, locate an approved centre offering that product. A nearby centre offering a different version is not automatically a suitable alternative.

Ask the centre a complete registration question

Include your chosen version, preferred city and approximate planning period when asking an approved centre about sessions. Confirm identification rules, how the required skills are scheduled, payment conditions and how the official attestation is provided. Keep the centre’s written confirmation. This website does not display live TEF seats or issue attestations; the approved centre and the examination organisation remain the sources for operational decisions.

A decision to work through

Before comparing TEF session dates, write the purpose and recipient in one sentence. Then identify the required TEF version and skills. For example, a university application and a separate administrative process may not request identical evidence. Ask each recipient to confirm an unclear version, and contact a listed examination centre only after the product is settled. An available seat is useful only when it belongs to the test you actually need.

Identity and account readiness

Check the identity policy for this exact exam and testing country. Your account details should follow the provider’s instructions for the document you will present. If names differ across Latin and Cyrillic documents, resolve the spelling question through official support before booking. Keep passwords and one-time codes private; guidance should help you understand the form while you retain control of sensitive details.

Format, location and practical planning

The receiving institution determines which product and format it accepts. The provider determines current locations, appointment availability and delivery requirements. Confirm both before choosing a centre or online option. Check the local time, equipment and any access-arrangement process relevant to your booking. A location listed online does not guarantee a place on your preferred date.

Preparation and exam integrity

Start with the official candidate materials for the exact version you intend to take. Familiarise yourself with the published format and interface, then choose learning support separately if needed. Registration assistance is not tuition, a predicted score or access to live questions. Use legitimate resources and follow the provider’s exam-conduct rules.

After the exam

Use the provider’s official account and reporting guidance to access your result. Check separately how the receiving institution wants to receive it. Downloading a report is not always the same as completing submission. If you are considering a further attempt or a professional certification step, confirm current rules directly. An exam result does not itself guarantee admission or a credential.
